Smita Jain: Consultant Gynaecologist, Southampton
With over 30 years' experience, Miss Smita Jain is a general gynaecologist with a special interest in urogynaecology and urodynamics, menstrual disorders, menopause and ambulatory gynaecology. She completed her specialist training through the Wessex Specialist Registrar Training Programme in Obstetrics and Gynaecology (2003–2009) and was awarded her Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT) in 2008. She gained her primary medical qualifications in India, before undertaking Fellowship training in Taiwan and working in Canada.
Miss Jain was a clinical member of the national patient information committee at the Royal College of Gynaecologists (RCOG) for three years. She is actively involved in medical education and was a Tier-Two Educator for an internationally delivered MRCOG preparation course. She is currently assisting as an honorary exam facilitator for the MRCOG part 2 course.
Miss Jain has been a full-time Consultant Gynaecologist at Practice Plus Group Southampton since 2011. She provides consultant-level care across various settings including outpatient clinics, urodynamics clinics, flexible cystoscopy clinics, ambulatory gynaecology procedure clinics and gynaecology operating theatres. She is also actively engaged in multidisciplinary team (MDT) meetings and the daily operational management of the hospital’s gynaecological services.
In 2020, she successfully completed her GMC revalidation, and her annual appraisals within the department at Practice Plus Group Hospital have consistently demonstrated a more than satisfactory performance.
