Dr Rovel Colaco: Consultant Clinical Oncologist in Manchester
Dr Rovel Colaco trained in Clinical Oncology at the Christie before being selected as the first UK doctor to train in proton therapy. He spent 12 months training in proton therapy at the University of Florida Proton Therapy Institute. He then spent a further year at Yale University where he was the first graduate of Yale's Stereotactic Radiotherapy fellowshipship training in Stereotactic Radiosurgery (SRS) for brain metastases and extra-cranial stereotactic radiotherapy (SABR). Whilst at Yale, he also worked using both Gamma Knife and CyberKnife. Upon returning from the UK, Dr Colaco was appointed to a leading role in both the Christie proton therapy and stereotactic radiotherapy programs. He treats primary brain and spine tumours with both proton and X-ray therapy, and brain, bone, lymph node and spinal metastases with stereotactic radiotherapy.
